performance part sharing between different car article

I remember reading an article on parts that can be shared among vehicles. . . . For example, the Porsche 944 sway bars can be used on Porsche 924. Perfect for junk yard digging. The article listed many instances of such cases for varies models . . . Mazda, Toyota, VW, etc . . .

I can't find this article any more, no matter how I search. Does anyone know where this article is located?

Check with Grassroots Motorsports magazine's site. They did an article on that a year ago.

We Fiero people know all about the swapping bit. Engines from Cadillacs, other GM cars, Corvettes, you name it. Brake rotors from Chrysler LeBarons, calipers from Cadillacs and Corvettes, interiors from Nissans and Firebirds, you name it, it's been done. :)

Call your local library and see if they have the Hollander manual. This is what the wrecking yards use for interchangeability.

It doesn't cover cross-manufacturer swaps like those needed to turn a Fiero into a car (sorry, couldn't resist ;-) but the Hollander's Interchange manual tells things like which '81 Dodge parts can be used on a '66 Plymouth, wich '62 Buick parts fit a '70 Chevy, and the like. Most junkyards have a Hollander's on hand. Its quite expensive to buy a Hollander's (and it takes up a 4-foot length of shelf) but you do see older ones on E-bay now and again.

I like the Ferrari-replica made out of a Fiero. That seems kinda cool.

Thanks. Are these manuals updated with information for the latest vehicles?
