RE: Rear Window on '89 to '97 Cougar, alt.autos.ford

The rubbery material around the rear window on my '90 Cougar is fading and drying out. I had the car re-painted at Maaco ($1400.00 w/body work) and they made the material just a little blacker. I was wondering if there is some kind of soft bumper repair putty like stuff that can be spread on the rubbery material and sanded down smoothe and painted body color? Does anything like this exist? Thanks in advance for any info.

I don't know of anything that would do the job you want. RuGlyde will darken and help preserve rubber parts. Tire Black will blacken not only tires but gaskets.

If this sucker is crumbling, you may just have to replace it.
