Tech Help Needed for 1995 Chevy Cavalier

Hi All I have a 95 Cav that runs great. About a year ago it developed a rather peculiar and intermittent problem. After the car has been driven awhile and warmed up; when starting from a stop it feels like it has no power when you step on. Sometimes it kinda lurches forward. This lasts a few seconds then it runs ok. At high speeds the car will jerk and then seem to want to race forward. After a few times of this it settles down. The car may go for weeks with no problems then suddenly act stupid. The engine has been recently tuned and the fuel system is in good shape. Methinks the problem may be with the throttle but my mechanic is stumped. If I wait for the problem to happen all the time it mite be a long wait. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Please reply to this post to help others) AND by email to me if you can help. Many thanks in advance.

How did you come to that conclusion? The first thing I would do is replace the fuel filter.

I would suspect an ignition problem - ignition coil/module could do something like that..

Tranny is automatic. When I first had complaints of the problem my mechanic suggested flushing the injectors and replacing the fuel filter so basically anything that could be done was done to ensure that it wasn't a fuel delivery related problem.
