So last night whilst leading Santa around the Boro, my transmission finally crapped out. Same problem I've been having for a good while now... clutch only doing anything at the floor, well, the past 2 weeks or so I've had to hit the brake pedal to be able to get the clutch down far enough to start the truck (due to that stupid safety thing). Anywho... got Santa through an intersection, got in my truck, shut it off to put it in 1st, started it and it stalled right away, and never started again. After busting a tow strap today, I finally got AAA to haul it to a transmission shop. I told him that as far as I know and from what I've been told, it's likely the slave cylinder, and he quoted me "probably between 500 and 600." His calculator said 553, and that includes parts, labor, and family discount. Yes, the slave cylinder is internal, something I suspected all along from my failure to locate a bleed valve, something my buddy said while under the truck after his idiocy busted my tow strap, and Scott (the trans guy) confirmed.
Anyway, 500-600, that sound reasonable, cheap, expensive, for parts and labor to replace an internal slave cylinder on a 2WD 5 speed 92 F150? I was actually expecting it to be much more than that, and he offered to up the price to make me feel better, which I declined ;-)
