water coming out from somewhere underneath, not the Radiator.. 95 escort lx

95 Escort made loud screeching sound then noticed water coming out looks like coming from main shaft not Radiator, any advice would be thankful . Thanks again jb

Probably the water pump just died. It lives behind the timing belt cover on the end of the engine, and is driven by the timing belt. Since the pump is behind the timing cover, and just above the crankshaft, any coolant leaks will come out the bottom of the cover, just behind the main drive pulley.

Here's a page with a 1999 Escort, showing the pump and a drawing of its location. Slightly different design than your 1995, but close enough to show you wnat you're dealing with...

Mitchell Online says it takes about 3 hrs for a fully-equipped and reasonably experienced shop to change. For a first-timer doing it in the driveway with a toolkit consisting of a hammer, a bent screwdriver and a roll of duct tape, it might take slightly longer. ;-)
