Loss of Accelerations Power when turning? (Toyota 86 Tercel)

Anyone have any suggestions as to what this problem could be? It has gotten progressively worse over the past two years. The acceleration used to be fantastic when I would to take a corner or change lanes. But, now I can floor the pedal and there is noise but no power, almost as though it is cutting out. It used to happen only when I made a sharp turn but now it will cut out during a simple turn or if I let up on the gas and then resume pressure. The power/ acceleration resumes after a few seconds of no power (or inadequate power). I really am at a loss with this one, as I thought it was the carburetor, the spark plugs, or distributor cables but all have been replaced, as well as the air filter, so I am stuck in the dark. Thanks very much for time and help.

I have a question. Does the power steering pump appear to be functioning correctly and does it have the correct level of fluid in it?

The power steering pump is a good place to start. Also check the fuel level in the carb bowl - it should be halfway up the glass.
