OBDII problems...

I just went through all of this with my pick-up. The Catalyst and EVAP flags are the hardest ones to make "ready" and take the longest to become "ready". It took me over 600 miles to have enough readiness flags to pass OBDII emisisons test.

And depending on which model year vehicle you have you can pass if one or two readiness flags are not complete. In my case, 2003 model, I could pass with having only one readiness flag incomplete. Older models can pass with having 2 readiness flags incomplete.

What kind of driving do you normally do? I primarily take short trips of less than 15 minutes back and forth to work. Lately though, I've been driving all over the place trying to get the sensors "Ready". I've gone through the suggested "Drive Cycle" a couple of times also.

same here, normally short trips. But in this case I found myself planning longer drives on certain roads when traffic was lightest as to not upset the zen of OBDII driving cycles. It's really crazy what these stupid laws make us do. Anyway, what finally did it for me was a

65 mile one-way trip I had to make last Sunday morning. When I got to my destination the EVAP flag became ready and I knew I could pass emissions testing at that point. On my way back home I stopped at a testing facility and passed with flying colors. This after 2 failures and zero knowledge of the OBDII world of emissions testing. I'm a freaking expert now, not by choice either.

Me too! It's surprising how much people actually DON'T know about emissions and OBDII. Maybe I'll have to go on a little road trip this weekend. Maybe go fishing in an out of the way lake or something.
