OT Does anyone ever feel "guilty" about not buying an "American car"?

LOL! As do I... ;)

I gotta admit, I arranged to trade my LHS for a Scion, and on the way home called the dealer back and had him change it to my Grand Voyager! As much as I like the GV with it's AWD, it's a beater, whereas my LHS has a LOT of life in it! It handles as well as my '85 Celica GT-S and has been a dream when it has needed repairs (even parts from the dealer are CHEAP!!!)

Plus, my @ss gets swaddled in plush leather seats, I replaced the Infinity head unit with a JVC MP3 player (the Infinity amp is in the trunk still, and working) and replaced the front 'woofers' with MB Quarts, it rides nice, drives well and has not given me ANY trouble for 2 years.

In 1994 it cost $32,000. More than I would have spent for it, for sure, but then, in 1988 my Supra cost $33,688 in Toronto.

But, the Supra *IS* a BLAST to drive!!!!

Say, you never did say if you were married... ;)

Well you could buy a 1965 (or earlier) Chevy or Ford. All Studebakers were made in USA.

Splork! ;-P

Cthy

You're splorking him?

You hussy.

Natalie

What's a splork? Do I want to be there to see it?

It's when you splutter - burst out laughing - when reading an on-line comment. If you just took a drink, it may involve splattering your monitor w/ little droplets of the liquid. ;-)

Cathy

As long as you don't snarf it!!!

Hey, if you don't want it give it to someone else. She seems like she could be fun!

Hmmm... not sure if this one should be taken as a compliment or not...

Cathy

It was meant as a compliment. You seem reasonably intelligent, notwithstanding our disagreements in other discussions. Unfortunately I can only guess how pleasant you are in real life. Can you provide any vital statistics?

Reasonably intelligent? Carrying on an abortion debate in a Toyota newsgroup?

You call that "intelligent?"

Wow.

Compared to your sense of reality I would say so.

badgolferman trolled:

And of course, you are the "reasonably intelligent" person with whom she was carrying on the debate.

And this is your response? Why don't you just stop trying to be so intelligent and just start calling us names. You know that you want to...

cordially, even to small fry,

rm

Okay then, I'll take it as the compliment it was intended to be; merci. :-) (I've been told by a friend I initially met in a music ng, & then later IRL, that WYSIWYG - re: my cyber persona & real life one.)

You're getting too cheeky. ;-)

Cathy

BTW - to clarify this: I take it you mean that despite the differences of opinions on the issues in other threads. IOW, because I don't agree with you, doesn't mean I'm less intelligent. At least I hope that's what you meant...

Cathy

I assume it was a Crapsler minivan?

On the other hand, Canadian-made Corollas are equally reliable as U.S.- and Japanese-made ones.
