Re: {OT} next executive order?

Then why did Bush say he regretted saying it

Because it was taken out of context by the American media and turned into something it wasn't. "Mission Accomplished" referred to the mission of defeating Iraq. The press turned into the "mission" meaning everything is finished.

Nonsense. If it was taken out of context, he would not have said that he wished he'd communicated in a more sophisticated manner. That's what he said.

He also regretted "Bring 'em on."

He should've known better. Words like that are how you start a fight in a bar.

Is that the current bullshit spin?

Used to be the claim was that "Mission Accomplished" referred to just that ship's trip, and that it was a banner that the ship produced. Darn the White House for claiming ownership of the banner!!

Psssst.....your new spin isn't cutting it either.

The idiot's wife had to remind him "As president of the United States you need to be careful what you say."

His wife. 50+ years old and he didn't know what was inappropriate.

DUH! The fight had already been started on 9/11 and at several time previously. LOL

Our friend Joe knows that, but because he was never in the Navy he chose not to understand the meaning of "Mission Accomplished," to the battle group, at the end of their tour.

He is one of the lefty kooks that were pounding Bush on deficit spending in time of war. I'm waiting to here his excuse for a larger deficits coming on line now to grow the government. LOL

Your response makes absolutely no sense, Uncle Jemima. Stop punting. You're not good at it.

Do you think "the mission" was defined by military planners only as "the fall of Baghdad"? Be honest with your response, please.

Well, I'm going to agree with George W. Bush, who thought it was a mistake to hang that poster. He didn't regret the poster because it was misinterpreted. Otherwise, that's what he would've said recently when he expressed his regrets. The only remaining way to interpret his recent comments is that the whole idea was a bad one.

If it was initially his idea to hang the poster, it points to his gross incompetence and simplemindedness. When the invasion began, numerous military commentators were heard to say (in the news) that dealing with Iraq's regular army would be a cakewalk compared to what would come afterward: Dealing with insurgents.

Only an incompetent president would not realize this.

You know the banner had noting to do with the war, it was for the Navel groups tour. Why do you kept trying to beat a dead horse? Bush is gone, it is time to worry about what the black baby killer does to the rest of us now.

You mean like OB thinking he can deal with the nuts in Iran? LOL

If the banner was related to the Naval Groups tour, then Bush would've explained that, and he would NOT have said recently that he regretted it. Since he did not explain that it was for the tour, that means it was not.

No. His statements of regret were recent, at a press conference, and he had as much time as he wanted to explain his decision to hang that banner. He did not explain the banner like any of you true believers have been doing since he made the mistake.

Don't obsess too much about that last question. I have no intention of taking any detours at the moment.

When was securing the city of Baghdad ever presented as the mission?

Essentially, you're saying you do not believe that Bush was truthful when he expressed his regrets about the banner, about "bring 'em on", or about "dead or alive".

If the banner was such a noble and correct thing, as you are claiming, why would your hero express regrets about it, instead of explaining it your way?

The broadcast must've been based on misinformation or lies, since Bush regretted letting Rove talk him into allowing the banner.

Only in minds of you and the rest of the kooks, apparently. It was explained to you several times in the NGs. The facts are the Admiral asked if the President wanted THEIR banner taken down and he said no, you deserved credit for your service. The Admiral explained that fact to the media and he appeared on TV when he did so. Bush regretted the banner being up because the kooks like you took it wrong.

If all this is true, then why did he say he regretted the banner?

He said he regretted it. We know this is true.

It was explained in the media and on the web many times but your kooks continue to believe what they want to believe

the lefties have been harping on that for years. Don't waste your time trying to explain it to them. They either know and just want to keep hammering on Bush or are really that stupid and don't understand.
