Sienna cargo net...?

Howdy,

I have an '04 Sienna.

It has a "cargo net" gadget that I just looked at for the first time...

It is a rectangle to be stretched across the rear luggage area. When stretched in that position, there are two elastic loops that (I take it) are to be attached to two fluted plastic knobs that are on either side of the van.

When the net is hanging in that position, on the bottom (below each of the hanger loops) there are two plastic snap hooks.

Those hooks would stabilize the whole unit, but I cannot locate anything to which they can be attached.

Might you know how this thing is intended to be used?

Also, (and related) is there anything made that would actually function as a cargo restraint for this van?

The cargo net might keep some groceries from rolling around when I take a curve, but in the event of a collision, well... I don't even want to think about it.

I had a Mercedes wagon for 18 years that had a real cargo restraint, and would love to have something similar in the Sienna.

Thanks for any help on either, or both of these issues,

You have the "stock" cargo net. It just hangs. For $38, you can order the Optional cargo net.

Keep the stock one...

Or, get some elastic material like for hemming pants or something and tie it into the stock net.

Howdy,

Do you have any idea why those two plastic hooks are there?

Thanks again,

The optional net has 2 additional anchors at the bottom corners of the net.

We are certain that I have the "optional" version...

Now, might you know the function of the two hooks at the bottom?

Sincere thanks,

Our Lexus cargo net is held in place with 2 anchors at the top of the trunk opening. Our Sequoia's cargo net is held in place with 4 anchors, 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom, so my guess is that there is a verson of the cargo net available for the Sequoia that uses 4 anchors instead of 2.
