Toyota Corolla 1994 Speedometer Problem

Jul 08, 2007 1 Replies

Hello,

My speedometer works off and on, but the speed is not correct. Sometimes it will jump up to 60 mph when I'm going around 30 mph. Then when I start to brake it suddenly drops down to 0 mph.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Is it something that I can repair on my own?

Any help would be appreciated.

If it is a mechanical speedometer with a max speed of 85 MPH, then the speedometer head in the instrument panel is probably bad and needs replacement. You can replace it on your own.
