Hi all, Can anyone recommend a decent quality aftermarket replacement shocks and struts for a 1992 Camry SE? Most places just call up the same numbers as the standard model. Obviously I am not going racing, just want to preserve the original specifications, which were a bit sportier than standard. Thanks!

Most of the aftermarket shocks are the same regardless of if for a 4 cylinder or a V6 - much less by the trim model. Kyb, Koni and Bilstein are stiffer than original struts so go with one of those --- or the OEM ones from the dealer.
ok, thanks much. The SE version was not just trim differences, it had a few mechanical differences as well including firmer suspension- so it looks like your suggestions will be perfect. Cheers, dave
I wouldn't go with KYB (Keep Your Bilstein) GR-2. But if you really want to save money I think they are about $69-79 each online. The OEMs are overpriced re-badge. For the money you are better off with a Bilstein or a cheaper Tokico (plus some others mentioned).
Yes - I have '03 SE - Bigger brakes, stiffer shocks, rear discs (on 4 cyl), Strut bars, bigger sway bars, and 16" different alloy wheels w/Michelin tires. Rest is cosmetic: leather steering wheel and shifter knob, different gauges w/orange lighting, different seats and trim and the rear spoiler (now optional). Makes for sportier ride. Wish they offered the extra body panels like the Corolla S.
