2001 Camry CE 10mm Wider Tires

My cousin has a 2001 Camry CE (4 cyl stick shift) with 15x6 inch stock rims. The car came with P205 65 R15 92H tires. I would like to upgrade him to 215/60/15 tires which are 10mm wider. According to tire calculators on the net the diameter changes are within the recommended up to 3% change. My concern is the possibility of rubbing against the stock shock absorbers on the back. There is a 12mm clearance between the 205/65/15 stock tire and the shock absorber. As I see it the new tire will take up only 5mm of this clearance.

1) Will it rub the shock absorber 2) Is there something I have overlooked

PS: According to tire calculators on the net the new tires will be

4.32mm less tall and 10mm wider ( 5mm on each side )

Thanks everyone and Happy Thanksgiving

I already did this - no issue. I used Goodyear HP 215/60R15 tires.

PS My friend put 225 Yokohama's on and they did rub when turning. You should be OK with 215ers.

Rewire

Thanks for the input Redwire. Went with Kumho's Touring Plus 732 in the 215/60/15 size. We noticed better handling and car looks better but I think things like potholes and the like are arguably more noticeable. Wonder if we should have gone with a taller tire like the

215/65/15.

Happy Holidays and thanks again
