We just had our warmest weather to date this year and my wife and I were away for the weekend without ac. The light on the ac button flashed but nothing happened for cooling. Would someone offer some suggestions please.

When the light flashes it indicates that the compressor is not turning itself on for some reason. THe most likely being the absence of refrigerant due to a leak.
