2002 V6 Camry won’t idle after battery change\cleaning of terminals

Hello everybody,

I changed the battery in my 2002 Camry (V6 Auto Transmission) two years ago at 40K. I remember after I did that the car would not idle. I figured it just needed to re-learn my driving patterns ECT. Seems like it did and every thing has been fine. Last weekend while tuning up the beast I noticed some corrosion starting again on the terminals so I removed and cleaned them (Negative wire first). Now the beast won?t idle again. I have removed and re connected the terminals a few times and have driven over 500 miles and it still won?t idle. Any ideas on how to reset the engine-control\computer memory that adjusts the idle air by-pass. Or something along those lines. Chilton?s does not have a manual out for the

2002 Camry yet. Current mileage 82K Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Jimmy

I would look for a loose wire/broken connection somewhere close to the terminals, esp the + terminal.

I don't think that this would solve your problem but here's how you reset the ECU: pull the fuses for it. In some cases, there are two so you'd obviously have to pull them both for about 1 minute.
