95 camry V-6 issues

  1. I have to pump gas to my car when i start up my car. It has a rough time idleing and will at random drop rpm?s when idleing.

How do i remove the engine cover (not the hood) so i can inspect the spark plugs? The screws have a hole but no grooves. a philip, star, allen wrench, or anything else i can think of will not fit.

  1. My engine light will go on and the Overdrive light will blink. Seems to be in ok order, i just changed the tranny oil/filter about a month ago. Any idea to help me

I really hate to be harsh, but if you're asking these questions (esp the spark plugs...) either take it to a garage or find a sympathetic friend and/or get a Haynes manual. You don't remove the engine cover; the spark plugs unscrew with a spark-plug socket.

Your first question sounds like the Cold Start injector. What you need to do is get something you can place against the injector and your ear and have someone turn the key to the 'on' position. It should CLICK.

Your last question sounds like a tranny problem. The flashing OD light is telling you something's rotten in Denmark.

Here's one:

Here's another (better..)

What you want are connectors E1 and Tt. Jumper these together and turn the OD button OFF. Turn the ignition to the ON postion without starting. The OD light will blink a number of times, stop for about 2 secs, and blink again. Count the blinks. It may give you more than one code. Some Codes:

42=Defective speed sensor, probably in the speedo 61=Defective spped sensor in tranny 62=No 1 solenoid problem 63=No 2 " " 64=Lock-up solenoid problem.

These codes are from a '90 Supra, but I'm told the codes are mostly the same accross model lines.

Good luck...

Not harsh at all, just learning how to take care of my engine. Thanks for some ideas.
