Ahoy.



I'm attempting to program the system to Passive Arm (it's off by default)



Steps 1 and 2 go fine and I get the "signal" that all is OK to that point when the "system" locks the door at the end of step 2.



When I go to step 3 and "close and open the door 5 times" to set passive arming with a 30 second delay, then lock and unlock the door nothing happens.



The instructions don't make sense at this stage either: 3b says, "Lock then unlock the driver's door inside lock button 1 time. 3c says, "The system unlocks the door in 2 seconds. If this does not occur, start over."



That does not occur.



But the deal is, if I lock then unlock the door, how is the system then going to unlock it? It's already unlocked!



I've attempted this about 5x with no luck. Anyone have an idea?

Well nevermind!

There's a typo in the instructions: they want you to leave the door unlocked then the "system" locks it (not unlocks it as stated).

This is bogus anyway and I turned it back off because it doesn't lock the doors! All it does is arm the system. I guess that would be great if I wanted to leave the doors open, but the alarm on, then have to put the key in the ignition within 30 seconds...not sure why I'd want that scenario; maybe if I left something worth stealing in the car so someone could grab it, then have a 30 second head-start before the alarm went off? :-)

That's odd -- the passive setting on my '93 arms the alarm AND locks the doors.

I guess they "improved" it...now it's a "feature," not a bug. :-)

I tried it several times; each time I'd check by closing all doors, etc., then stand there and watch. The alarm led would come on, but the doors wouldn't lock. If I got in the car and just sat there, it would indeed go off after ~30 seconds.

So that's pretty lame. I was thinking that if I spaced out and neglected to set the alarm with the remote, at least it would auto-set with the passive system on. Oh well...I guess I have to learn to be more OCD with turning it on....
