I recently changed the spark plugs on my Camry which has electronic ignition and am having problmes dealing with the electrical wires that go to the coils.
This camry has 6 coils (I am told some have just 3). Each coil sits directly on top of a spark plug. A pair of wires is attached to the coil. At the end of the wire is a female connector and the coil has a male connector.
The female connectors are brittle as heck and break apart when handled.
I talked to the parts department at Toyota...they told me you can't buy the female connector and that my only option was to spend $1K on a new engine wiring harness. Then I talked to a Toyota mechanic. He said he has seen the problem before and what he did was just tape the wires to the coil.
Anyone else seen this problem and come up with a better solutions?
