98 Camry issue with changing Gear

I have a 98 camry 135k + While changing gear from Park to Reverse or to Drive, it gets stuck. It runs fine. The stick seems to be stuck..

Any advise / suggestions / tips

========= The shift lever is close to the cup holder - if drinks spill and dry, that can leave a sticky residue.
