99' Toyota Camry CE some Crank sound with the Gas Pedal

Aug 20, 2004 2 Replies

Hi, My 99' Camry CE has 79K miles on it, some times i feel the crank sound when i press the gas pedal, i don't hear that sound but i feel that crank like sound when i press the gas pedal. Can any body tell what is that... appreciate your help. Thanks

When the go-pedal is pressed, the engine should not make any audible mechanical sounds from its inside (so to speak),...but the power and torque thats being produced can cause vibration from anything that light and/or not secured as tight as when new.

For example on mine, the engine exhaust pipe which runs from the exhaust-manfold to the catalytic-converter, rattles quite loudly,..but it is of NO real importance, as nothing dangerous is happening.

You need to get someone who has some experience with cars and in particular expensive engine noises to suss it out for you.

What I meant to say was the tin-heatshield around the engine-exhaust-pipe rattles.
