A/C on my 4-cyl. LE version went down in performance. I took it for cervice, and they charged it with freon. Now it cooling wery well, BUT: past 30-40 minutes of work it starts blowing extremely wet and cold air, and after a minute of doing this it stops cooling completely. I'm able to resart it only in a few minutes.
Could this be caused by too much freon in the A/C system? Or wrong freon type? (invoice said they used R-12) Any suggestions how to solve this issue? Thanks,

Sounds like the evaporator is freezing up. From what I remember from little bits of info, this can be due to an overcharge or you have the fan on too low a speed to keep the evap from freezing. Once the evap freezes,..head pressures rise because the refridgerant is still a liquid when it returns to the compressor, which the AC control gear the causes a shutdown.

Try running the unit on mid fan speed and set it to recirculate instead of fresh air. Perhaps the outside humid air could cause the system to freeze. Also, a low speed fan can also impede performance (from what I have been told). Lastly, try adjusting the temp setting from cold to a little on the warm side. It should still spit out cold air but might not freeze up.
