Autozone code check for camry

Nov 16, 2007 3 Replies

Hello All,

I engine light is on all the time. I have camry 96 LE, V4 2.2 Liters, I went to auto zone to get the codes. The autozone guy was unable to find the connector port near or below the steering wheel. I found a grey circular connector there and he got this black rectangular connector device in his hands. Has anyone went to autozone to get the codes before, please advice!

John

According to

it's behind the coin box/tray below and to the left of the steering wheel.

The grey circular connector is the one. It is not OBDII compliant. The codes are read by a series of flashing lights on the dash when certain pins are jumpered. Highly primitive.

I thought all 1996 and newer vehicles are required to be OBDII compliant. The OBDII connector database definitely lists the 1996 Camry

and flags it as having a hard to find connector. See
