i am thinking of buyin a 2nd hand toyota keyless entry remote off ebay. is it possible to reprogram or "sync" the remote in to my camry? or will i have to buy a new one?

yes, the system should be programmable - ask the seller for instructions
I have an older system, but there's a small toggle switch under the dash which is used in combination with pressing the remote to set the new recognition code - works for up to three remotes

its for a 98 camry its a single button remote

You must get one with the proper frequency code --- its the frequency it transmits on.
