Check Engine Light

2003 Camry V6. Two days ago got a Check Engine light. I went to Auto Zone and dumped the code: po300 and po306, meaning misfire on cylinder
  1. I intended to disconnect the battery to clear the code, but two days later the light went out by itself, and has not returned.

Question: do codes clear automatically after a certain period (or number of starts) if the problem is no longer present?

Yes for some of the codes. An intermittent misfire is okay. If it persists, you might have a problem.

You might want to check the details and expiration of your powertrain warranty. I don't know how long the ULEV version's emissions warranty lasts, but coils, wires, plugs are covered under the emissions warranty. If that's the case, don't clear the codes, just take it back to the dealer and get free new plugs, wires and coils.

The codes will usually disappear after a number of trouble free cycles, depending on the code.
