Help Camry 93 transmission problem

Dec 22, 2003 2 Replies

I have a 1993 Camry XLE, 3VZ-FE 3.0 Liter and the transmission just stoped working.

Will not move forward or reverse in any gear when engine is warm. Moves just a little when cold.

Engine has been regularly serviced and is runing fine. The car has 250,700 miles.

I have not serviced the transmission. Any suggestions appreciated. What is meant by a solenoid problem in reference to the transmission? I saw some post about using "Lucas Transmission Fix" what is this and where do you find it?

How difficult is it to remove and replace the transmission? I have never replaced a transmission on a front wheel drive vehicle. Any special tools required for the job?

Thanks, Oscar.

Oscar, in 250,000 miles and never been serviced, you did OK! ;-) Solenoid wont keep it from moving. You have some major failure, i.e. broken something or no line pressure. Replace it with a reman unit.

Well you did fine with that transmission..on your next car service the transmission for even longer life..no quick fix on this one, you have a major problem it sounds like.
