Installing New Sound System

Can someone give me a site or something that would tell me how to install speakers into my car?

Hmmm...Crutchfield.com will tell you what to buy. Other best guess, Google. But, with all the commercialism on the 'net now, you'll have to drill down...

Remove grill cover, remove screws, unplug-remove speaker. Reverse process for istalation. Now wasnt that easy I can tell you how to change oil to.

I'm sorry. I've probably been installing stereos, amps, speakers, subwoofers, etc since about, oh, 1978. Much, much much more involved than what you just described above...if you want to do it right, that is.

Wasn't *that* easy? I can tell you how to wire up a Spacesuit, if you'd like.

it is as easy as Ransley wrote or it can be more complicated than a complete body off restoration.

How friggin much do ya wanna spend?

Upgraded speakers, small amp and sub with a better head unit, Ransley has it right.

If you want multiple 1000's of watts of amps, motorized this n that do-hickeys, extreme ne>

Im sure as [I`m right] , said all are different. I just did my rears, it took ten minutes. But I have not looked at the fronts yet.

This still requires much more than just removing the grills and replacing the speakers. See, some of us do take pride in what we do and want it to look as good as it sounds. Wanna just run a bunch of wires around willy-nilly? I have a nice, burnt-up 98 Mustang available I'll sell cheap because the last owner didn't know what the hell he was doing and probably didn't bother to ask. At least the original poster here took time to ask first. Too bad he got some off-the-cuff responce that told him nothing.

Yeah, depending on the model the rears can be easy. I saw a car today where some guy just hung 6x9's under a 4.5" round opening using shoelaces! I *have* done such Gumby things myself, but I really try to install things properly. There are all different ways to accomplish this; cutting holes, getting adapters, buying the right size replacements (as long as the mounting holes line up properly...)

My last installation was my own '95 Tercel. Clever bit of work if I say so myself! (ow, my arm hurts all of a sudden...) Had openings for 4", but I was able to hang the 5.25's from underneath, removed the package shelf, and cut the particle-board like piece to allow the sound through. Couldn't even tell there were speakers back there. You *could* tell there was 600 watts and a 300 watt sub in the trunk. Best part? All Radio Shack from their Going Out Of The Car Stereo Business sale. Total cost? $179 for all...
