Lifetime warranties

I've seen Brake Lifetime warranty specials, why doesn't car manufacturer's have this as a standard. Are these bogus pads? My friend just got a service from Midas and seems to be pretty happy with it.

The warranty is on the brake pads only, and does not include labor. Buy the time you add labor, and some charges for other brake stuff that they will insist on fixing even though there is nothing wrong with it (not under warranty), you will pay more than a brake job somewhere else.

Your friend got taken. Midas warranties the pads or shoes, but not the labor, which is where they make virtually all their money. If your $20 brake pads fail early, they will happily install a free pair - for about $100. It's a franchise, so there are probably a few good ones, but in general it's a chain to be avoided.

And after the charge to turn rotors and labor you find out youve been taken.

Not to mention that every brake shop chain I used sucked. Stick with OEM parts.
