Toyota Long Life Coolant (red)--How long?

HOw long is this stuff good for?

Family has an 02 Camry 4banger with 60000miles, and the coolant looks good as well as cooling system.

Bot car used, and doubt it was ever changed.

Time?

I don't care what you put in it...change the coolant every 2 years or

30,000 and you'll avoid costly repairs. I used to work at a auto service center and almost every car manufactorer who claims they have "long life coolant" is full of you know what.

Want proof...find a friend who owns a GM with dex-cool "long Life" antifreeze and peak into the rad and the overflow...disgusting!

I agree with your tips on coolant changes and how it adds life to cooling system. I thought dexcool was one of the early antifreezes that wasn't an ethelyne glycol base but wasn't truly a long-life. I think it failed miserably because of it's makeup and GM now uses a true long-life. davidj92

Every two years at a MINIMUM. If you do it yourself, consider it every year. Use distilled water mixed with coolant 50%-50%.

Color itself doesn't tell you a whole lot. The protective chemicals wear out over time and the acidity level changes. At 60,000 miles you are overdue if it hasn't been changed before.

Glad to see we are all in agreement. Service maintence schedule in owners manual says every 2 years or about

24,000 miles (32,000kms)
