TriFlow question

There is a lot of information in this NG about how to lubricate the IAC valve on '95 etc Camrys using Triflow, however where I live in Asia I can't find Triflow anywhere, would it be ok to use another aerosol lubricating product such as Sonax or WD40 or such.

Thank you

I hosed out the IAC on our Camry with spray carb cleaner. It did the trick.

=== You could use emission control safe carburetor cleaner or some other type of penetrating lubricant. The idea behind Tri-Flow is that the teflon component leaves behind a more durable dry film lubricant. Sorry to say, I think I've discovered all these ideas are short term fixes. Can work perhaps a year or two and then you need to replace the valve anyway. Interestingly, last time I did this I got a brand new defective IAC valve from the dealer, but the replacment has worked flawlessly. I checked with the lead mechanic. His only advice was to lubricate the valve perhaps every six months as preventative. Mechanics think of WD-40 as more of a water dispersant ("WD") than a lubricant. You should be able to find lots of "penetrating oil" aerosols locally. Just go easy because that can attract dirt even though the air is filtered.
