Windshield wiper noise

Have replaced the new wiper rubber blade only (not a whole wiper). It was working good for couple of weeks and it started to make noise again. The noise is where the wiper at a full swing on upright position and start to swing back down that is changing the direction of the rubber blade created a "kook" sound. This is very annoying because in BC, Canada rain a lot. Anyone has any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

You might try using some water and vinegar and give the winshield a good cleaning. That will allow the blades to travel nicely and might remove the noise.

Hi Car Guy, Thanks for your prompt response. What you suggested seem to be a temporary fix. I think the problem is the spring attached to the wiper is probably holding too much pressure against the windshield. Is there any adjustment that can reduce the pressure?

The blades that you use, are they the Bosch brand or another one. I have heard from my local Toyota dealer that some brands cause a variety of noises and the Bosch brand seem to be dead quiet. I have a set of Bosch blades that came with my 2002 Camry and they are great after close to 50,000 km of driving.

You didnt say how old your car is. 1st the whole assembly is better, but on older cars the whole arm should be replaced as the spring creating pressure has worn. Meaning wiper -assembly- and arm. But try cleaning wiper and window with alcohol first. A New razor blade can also be run across the glass, if residue comes off continue. Also for cars left out in tree covered areas or older cars, 3 rs, ZUD a kitchen cleanser works great as it is recomended on the instructions for glass. I use it on antiques that have trashed glass, with great results. Windsheilds absorb pollutants over time , Acids etch, pollution permeates . Especialy from car washes, polymer fake wax crap that screws up a windshield [ Window ] A little work, a few new components, and an old windshield will make you see better this winter and be Alot safer.

Thanks for taking your time to response.

I really like my 92 Camry except with that annoying wiper noise. I've tried the "Armor All" glass cleaner, it only worked for a very short period of time. I will try the razor blade and the ZUD as you have suggested and I will also replace with Bosch wiper as CAR GUY suggested.
