2K Tundra brake problem

Mar 30, 2008 2 Replies

The brakes will "grab" at low speed stops, like when rolling to a stop sign or intersection. When it happens, the right rear wheel brake will lock. It will release with no effort if I reverse the truck, but trying to pull forward in drive requires a lot of throttle. Any thoughts? Bill W

Pull the wheel, remove the drum and have a look at the brakes. Sounds like a broken return or holdown spring. Should be easy to spot the problem.

Could also be a brake fluid leak causing the brake lining to swell and hence lock. Check the slave cylinder for wetness.
