Need some tech help. I have a 1986 Toyota 1 ton C&C dual-axle pickup. The cab is shot, and some wiring is burned inside the harness. I want to put the utility bed it has on it on a 4 wheel drive chassis of about the same year, and also roll the dual axle under there. I have heard rumors that the 1-ton axle and the 4WD axle have the same drop-in, but possibly different ratios. Can anyone verify this? If the ratio is different, I should be able to custom-make another for the front end from another truck, I assume. I don't care if the speedo works right. Also, if that is not feasible, can I use a
1/2-ton 2wd chassis, and my rear end and axle? Is there anything special about my 1-ton chassis other than the suspension, and the axles and tranny?- posted
