94 pickup - another question - vent control lighting

Should there be a light behind the vent controls and selector switches? At night, nothing lights up and you can't see what speed setting it's on or where the selector slides are. hot or cold

Yes, there is a little light behind there. If you snap that panel off you'll see the bulb/socket/etc..
