how canu get the ac compresseor to run longer any way?? 02 tacoma4x4

If your compressor is rapidly starting and stopping, you likely have a shortage of refrigerant in your system. If the leak is very slow, you can add one can of refrigerant, assuming a modern system using R-134a refrigerant. An older system using R-12 requires professional repairs.

If everything is OK with the system, the time the compressor runs is controlled by a pressure switch. The refrigerant pressure is temperature related, so that pres-o-stat functions the same as a temperature switch. If the compressor ran too long, the system would get too cold and freeze up. Then no air passes through the ice and you get hot.
