Battery Corrosion

Why does the battery of the 2000 Tundra develop so much corrosion on the terminals and hold down bracket? What is the best way to control this build up?

After cleaning terminals, battery top and posts, put a heavy grease on the seam where the post comes out of the battery top. Doesn't take a lot, just enough to seal the seam. I usually use wheel bearing grease, others have mentioned vasoline, chassis lube. This will seal the gasses from coming out the seam and control corrosive deposits. HTH, davidj92

Original battery?...It might be time to get a new one. When a better leaks that bad around the posts, sometimes there is no way to stop the leakage.

Wal-Mart anti-corrosion pads under the terminals for just a few dollars. Works great.
