i got an impact wrench and have spent hours whacking away, but the crankshaft pulley nut still wont budge. anyone have any other suggestions?

Yup - that's how I do it as well.
The local Toyota dealership is who turned me on to this technique.

Yes, Put a break bar, rest it agaist the frame, and click the starter motor. Besure to disconnect the coil, so that the engine does not start.
