gas leak 89 6cly 4x4

We have an 89 sr5 that's leaking badly from the top of the fuel tank. It appears to be the metal line coming out of the tank. Is it possible to pull this in place or do we have to drop the tank. Is in a blind spot. Thanks.

Many times it's easier to remove the bed on a PU than to drop the tank. Ones I've done this way I just uncoupled filler tube, any clips on bed frame, light wires to rear and remove bed bolts (usually 4 - 6 bolts and easy to get to. Two good men should be able to lift a bed that small. Another benefit is not having to dump fuel from tank and mess with a tank with fuel in it. If you find it's the tank that's leaking it's easier to R&R with the bed off. HTH, davidj92

Thanks for the advice. I already have dropped the tank. A PIA but got it done. Just for anyone else who may Google the effort... The truck is an 89 V6 Xcab

4X4 w 250,000 miles.

Six 12mm bolts hold the skid plate protective covering. Once removed, there are six more 12mm bolts holding the tank up. I drained the tank and then removed the bolts. I had to use vice grips to remove the three screws holding the filler tube. After some juggling the tank was lowered and I could get to the hoses and electrical connections. Fortunately, Toyota engineered enough slack to lower the tank! A 19mm and 14mm wrench loosened the gasoline supply hookup. Now to the pump....
