Jacking up 03 Taco

Hi All,

Really basic question here, but you wouldn't believe how hard I have looked to come up empty. DAGS, and I get a lot of info on doing really cool off- road mods to jack up the Taco.

But, all that I want to do is to jack up (lift) my truck to rotate the tires. Right now, I remove the skid plate and front cover under the front end and jack the front by the main frame cross member.

My question is for the rear... What I have been doing is jacking each side seperately, well clear of the rear end, and placing the jack stands one at a time.

Can I just jack on the rear end? I have the service manual and there is no mention in there, and I couldn't find anything that says not to... but I would hate to damage it.

Just a small point, but you guys would probably know for sure.

Thanks, bucky

For what it's worth:

Chilton manual shows both the front diff (Land Cruiser only, not PU's) and rear diff (Land Cruiser, PU, Tacoma, T100) as jacking points.

I have used the rear diff as a jacking point a few times and it hasn't broken.

The mechanic who changed my clutch used the rear diff as a jacking point.

No guarantees.
