Get the oil analyzed by a oil testing company. They will tell you if you have too much contaminants in your oil. Don't go by color. The only difference in color I do notice is the difference in color between dino oil and full synthetic oil. Dino oil has murky swirls of brown in it and synthetic oil still looks clear but is a darker amber color.
