Pointers on replacing water pump in 1990 4runner

Hello,

I'm in the process of replacing the timing belt & water pump on my 1990

4runner with a 3.0 L, 6 cylinder engine. In reading up on it in my Chilton's manual and an online version of the FSM, I can't determine if there actually is a water pump gasket or not. All that I've read is that I only have about 5 minutes of open time after applying the sealer to the pump before installing it. Once I buy the parts, I'll know for sure whether or not there is a gasket.

So, to sum it up, does anyone here know if there actually is a gasket? Regardless of that fact, what sealer would be best to use? Permatex?

Also, I noticed that some of the bolts apparently enter the water jacket of the block. What type of thread sealer should I use on those? Any other tips or things to look out for?

Thanks in advance to those who post a reply to the group.

Peter.

Yes, certainly there is a gasket; the new pump damn well ought to come with the gasket--- they usually do.
