Just bought a used 92 truck with engine still under a warranty. Had it checked locally and the '85point' check turned up only a couple suspension parts. So I paid the owner and told the shop to fix those parts. Bright and early the next day the shop calls: They drove it the additional .001 mile onto the rack and it started spewing burned antifreeze out the exhaust in a big way. THey think maybe when they pressurized the cooling system during the check, that it blew a weak head gasket. The company supplying the rebuilt engine will honor the warrant only if the heat tabs inside are not melted, which I guess'd indicate abuse and overheating. If they are overheated, I guess I'm sort of screwed or left to pursue the owner. Does any of this sound a bit odd to anybody else?
