Hey I have a 87 toyota pickup truck and its been giving me some problems lately.
Whenever I get to about 65 or so it sometimes stutters. I thought I fixed it whenever I opened up the hood and there was a tube that wasn't on really, I think it was the vacuum tube but I am not sure. Any idea what might be wrong with it?
How can I tell if its the tires?
Also, it doesn't seem like a tire issue, because whenever it stutters it won't speed up. I'm not sure though.

I don't have any idea how many vacuum hoses you have. The spark plugs (not spark plug wires) is what I thought you should check. Ofcourse you will have to remove them to see how clean they appear. If you do, you may just want to replace them with new ones rather than the same old ones but that's your call.
Spark plug wires look like cables and can not be cleaned out but usually get replaced after so many miles (check your owner's manual for what they recommend or ask an auto parts store/dealership).

One of my friends told me that he knew a guy that described a similar problem and it worked fine after he fixed the spark plugs because a mechanic told him he had old worn out sparkplugs. Which is what I might have since it's such an old truck. I'll have to look into that.
I think I'd replace the plugs if you can get to them easily. I haven't kept up with prices but I don't think plugs cost a lot (I'd like to say $1.25 each but I'm not sure). In any case good luck and since I'm curious and want to learn, please update me/ others here.
