Shock eyelet needed

Oct 04, 2004 2 Replies

anyone have a old set of front shocks for 01 02 or 03 Tacoma ??

i need the bottom eyelets off the shock for a project i'm working on with my

2002 Tacoma. i will pay shipping costs, just enclose a shipping receipt and i will pay for it. i just need the eyelets so they would need to be hacksawed off.

what are they for you ask. well, one way to get some lift is to make the coilover longer, so i plan to weld the old eyelet to the bottom of my bilstein eyelet. no worries, me and my TIG make some strong stuff.

thanks.

Don't have any shock eyes for you, but when you stack them to make the extension be sure to take that torch and fishplate a washer or two inside the original shock eyes of the modified shocks. Make them into an I or box section to keep them from crushing or twisting.

But I'd be /really/ /super/ /careful/ welding to the shock body itself, especially if they're gas charged shocks. I REALLY wouldn't want to be holding the hot welding torch if you spring a pinhole leak on hydraulic oil backed up with a few hundred PSI of Nitrogen - the combination would make a nifty flamethrower, and the flame throwee is going to feel it for years. Or worse, for only a few seconds...

A potential "Kids, Don't Try This At Home" moment.

i'm not welding to the body of the shock.

i'll have pics of the weldment once i get some eyelets.
