Tacoma vs Ram

My 2003 Tacoma and I got rear-ended this afternoon by a late model Dodge Ram. The front end of the Ram was about finished. The raditor and bumper were demolished. The hood was crumpled almost back to the cab. He whacked me and the Tacoma pretty good. The rear bumper of my Tacoma was demolished, and the rear of the bed was bent under a bit. The tow truck guy who came out to tow away the Dodge said a body shop would probably just replace the Tacoma bed. The Tacoma drove away from it without even a hitch in its get-along. I was amazed. Don't let anyone tell you these vehicles are flimsy pieces of crap. Thissun took a real lickin' and kept on tickin'.

The Ms borrowed my 90 4wd sr5 4x4 and was t-boned. The minivan hit just behind the driver's seat, crushed the hollow metal step up pushing under the truck and setting the Toyota on it's right side. When uprighted, the cab was pushed 6 inches out of alignment to the box.

I'm glad you were not hurt. But you have to be careful in these light trucks.

Try rear-ending a Ram and let us know how you make out.

Front-ends are inherently more vulnerable, especially with crumple zones designed into them, although I once witnessed the head on crash between a large passenger car and a dump truck. The dump truck only sustained a bent grill. The car, well, you don't want to know.

Glad to know you and your truck are OK.

My Tacoma got smacked in the rear by a caprice classic wagon that was going fast enough that the Caprice went OVER my rear bumper (my truck is a 4x4 on

31" BFG AT's) and crushed the bumper and tail gate. Something I didnt notice at first was that the bed got pushed into the back of the cab. Make sure you check for that, I had to have the whole cab repainted after they pulled the dent out.

Thanks for the heads up on that, Tbag. The impact did push the bed up as you say.
