Tundra power mods: Anyone tried this?

What about the ECU piggy backs and chips they sell on ebay? Anyone tried 'em?

How about cold-air intake (such as K&N FIPK), does it really give 15+ HP gain? Just wondering, before I spend my money.

No and no.

The Ebay stuff is worse than a piggyback chip... it's a resistor and will not help... will definitely void your warranty, and could hurt the ECU.

The FIPK *MAY* provide some help at wide open throttle, but the rest of the time it's only going to allow more dirt to enter the engine. The deckplate mod is just as effective.

No, it does not give 15+ hp. Some dyno tests showed that it cut power under certain conditions.

The FIPK gives some HP gains above about 3500 rpm and costs a couple of hp below 3000 rpm. When you get above 4500 rpm there's pretty good hp gain, but is the added power at that high rpm, and the loss of power at normal driving rpm worth the $275~$300? If you run big tires or tow the loss of low end power is more of a problem.
