Two tacoma peeves

1) on my 2003 TRD Offroad V6 Extra cab, the lower right corner of the dash trim where the digital clock is, is loose. Is this a common problem?

2) when you wash the truck, the two lower turn signals on the front bumper pools water and water seeps out until its mostly gone or evaporates.

why do people deal with these questions ? Take it to the dealer. Let them deal with it.

I notice the same thing with the turn signals, but i dont have the loose dash. My dash does make noises when its cold though.

My peeves for my 2003 tacoma 4x4 include the PLACEMENT of the digital clock. I cant see it where it is because it is behind the steering wheel. I think they should put it where the air bag switch is.

Also, I hate the orange lights in the dash.

And the map lights, they shine in your eyes, they should be directed down more.

If someone has the same problem and took it to the dealer and got turned down, I could save a trip to the dealer and all the hassle it entails.

I had one of my front turn signal assemblies replaced under warranty in my

02 Tacoma. It had water condensation inside of it. A couple of my biggest complaints is that the interior plastic scratches WAY too easily compared to most vehicles. Also the cruise control in the V6 automatics unlocks the torque converter then quickly downshifts to drive on the slightest incline. This makes the engine suddenly go to about 3000 rpm. The truck then accelerates about 2 mph above the set speed before shifting back to OD. This is very annoying to say the least. The dealers mechanics checked it out and say it is normal. I have read other forum groups and this is a common complaint. I have four cylinder cars that don't unlock the torque converter on the same hills at the same speeds. Much less downshift to drive.

Yeah...me too - over by the passenger side airbag.

Really bad design. Boeing has had perfect reading lights on jets for decades. Why not Toyota?

And: The center console lid should be hinged to open toward the passenger, not toward the back seat. It gets in the way of the driver trying to reach in without ripping the door off with his elbow.

I'm so glad you mentioned that. My 90 v-6 sr5 4wd was always down shifting on the slightest incline. I was told the 3.0 just didn't have the poop the

3.4's have. I'm looking for a new or newer truck. Maybe v-6 manual is the way to go.

There seems to be more 4 cylinder auto 4wd than I ever remember. Who has one, and would you buy it again?

Yes EXACTLY! near the far right side. It was worse when the snow was flying here.

I have the 3.4 and it does the same thing. So, I don't use cruise control in places where the hills are greater than a certain size. I suspect the cruise control is programmed to assume that the truck is towing something. Otherwise, the speed change would be more gradual.

Could be. I've had two V-6 manuals and neither of them shifted down on a grade unless I wished them to

I won't go with you here. My passenger (daughter) uses the center console as much as I do. I think this one of those 'can't satisfy them all' categories.

Yeah, but as the passenger, she can maneuver any way she wants while taking her eyes off the road. If the driver does that, there could be "issues". :-)

Thank you for buying/using sticks. They are getting harder to get here in Florida because more people want automatics, and many folk who'd like a stick are settling for whatever the salesshit has on the lot that day.

As for your sense of humor and pretensions to advice.... pal ya need ta watch some more bugs bunny cartoons:)

That is a really sharp contribution. honestly and for real. Being relatively young, married and purposefully childless in a 2 car home, I'd never considered for one second what my darling wife felt (beyond my need for speed) about being in my truck. Now I understand why she slugs me until I move far enough over for her to see over the top of the right side hinged lid to see the cd's. I think I will spend Sunday moving the hinge to the rear of my home built center console.

They could make some sort of roll-top/tambour style deal... that would be a lot better.. That way, if you wanted to put a SuperFreakinWayTooMuchGulp in the center console, you could do so and not have to worry about the door of the console flopping around while you drink your 55-gal soda.

Can't comment on the CC and automatic, I have a 5 speed, I'm in the habit of removing my watch or at least seat belting up while the driver door is open to avoid the watch scratching the plastic door panel.

Anyone have any figures on how many tacomas sold are manual vs automatics?
