We're thinking we ought to replace our present Tacoma with one that has bucket seats and automatic transmission, even though we take some considerable loss on it.
So we need to know what we can reasonably hope to recover from it, and let it go for that to the first friend with the cash.
We bought it new in June '03, as a hunting vehicle; but I've been unfit to hunt since spring of '06. There are less than 5000 miles on it (yes, < 5K after seven years -- because of gout and a torn shoulder; no other reason).
Besides a toolbox, it has a bed liner, and a heavy plywood floor to go over that -- if/when there's a bedcap or cover to keep rain off. (The plywood has linoleum on one side, and three or four coats of paint on the other, but was never intended to hold up against weather
24/7/365.)
We also have a bedcap. The more of the extras we can sell, too, of course, the better.
Several friends are interested, and it's likely at least one will have ready money; since we can't hope to sell a truck this old, however good the shape it's in, for what we'd like, the idea (to repeat) is to make them an offer as good as we could hope from the market, and use that as the start on a replacement.
We're in Western Virginia -- not WV, but close. We also have family in East TN. So we're particularly interested in what it would bring in this area -- and, of course, in what a dealer would get for it.
