A friend of mine just acquired a 78 Westphalia van with all the trimmings. It runs but needs a new muffler and god knows what else. Any idea of best place on the net to advertise this old girl?? Think he's wanting $1500 or thereabouts.

I just saw an ad on thesamba.com from someone who really wants to buy a late 70s Westy with all the trimmings. your friend should check it out.
Check if craigslist.com has a listing for your area.
