I have been bidding /watching a used early 80's blue dot radio to put in my 74 bug. I can't believe the thing ended up selling for almost $80! Add shipping & its almost $100. I think that is crazy! Why are these old radios so valuable?

Early 80s is considered old now? Last time I bothered to listen to the radio was back then. I guess my tastes are all old-fashioned now.
Because they are no longer available to purchase new............ Supply.........demand,.........surely this makes some sense.
I know the feeling though (and truely I am not baggin' on ya). Old *anything* is more likely to be repairable, more solid, less disposable than anything built nowadays that one can afford in the current marketplace without being Bill Gates.
Bite the bullet and buy what works for you and problem will be solved. Remember though, that what you ar shooting for is a long term investment, so the older the better as long as it's in exceptionally good shape. The best investment will be the best example you can make yourself purchase.
