First, are you sure that the CV's are good? Pull the axles from the car, using the correct triple square socket or allen head, whichever matches your axle bolts. Then, you have to take the CVs from the axle (large circlip involved holding CV on axle). When you get the CV joints off, take them apart and clean them well. Inspect the balls and the carriers. If all is good, regrease with CV joint grease (contains moly, good for high pressure) and put it all back together.
Buy the German boots....don't get the Bugpack or Tawainese crap! The German stuff is available from WolfsburgWest, Aircooled.net, BFY, and many other reputable places.
Muir's "Idiot" book actually explains this very well and good pics to go along with it. Also the Bentley is an indisposable reference that you should have too. Arm yourself with good manuals.....

i heard the rockford boots are the best...
Make sure you clean out the bolt heads before you try and loosen them. If there is dirt/grit in the bolts your tool won't fully engage the head of the bolt, and you will strip where the tool contacts the bolt.
